I have been through the Alsace region several times and every time it reserves an excellent surprise! Doesn’t matter the season, it’s always great to be there. It’s so close to Switzerland and in just one day travel it’s possible to visit some beautiful and charming towns, taste the wonderful French cuisine, degust les vins s’Alsace made from different grapes such Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Tokay Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Muscat, Sylvaner, and Gewürztraminer.
What I like the most is driving in the delightful Route du Vin, going through pretty villages with theirs narrow streets of half-timbered houses and flower-balconies! Each town has its own appeal and you can find cute and sophisticated restaurants with very reasonable prices. Traditional and inviting wine cellars are everywhere waiting for a visit! Well, this really makes my life miserable because my will is to stop at every single one and taste every single wine what is almost impossible!
Alsace is one of the 26 regions of France, located on the eastern border of the Upper Rhine River, bordering to Germany and Switzerland. It was part of the Holy Roman Empire, changed hands between France and Germany times between the 17th and 20th centuries respectively. Traces of Roman architecture remain on this region strongly!
I never know which language I need to speak there. People from Alsace speak Alsatian as first “language”, although it is/was traditionally a German-speaking region. Almost every Alsatian speaks French today with a strong German accent! French became compulsory at school after the liberation! German is also wide spoken as well, but what you heard on the streets is an Alsatian dialect that can vary from place to place.
Anyway, as it was a beautiful sunny day, Natália and I drove to Alsace to spend a wonderful day as shown on the pictures! You got home around midnight with our hearts and eyes full of wonderful memories that we will carry forever!

Hey Aisha! My friend Natalia also went "only" to Paris and she said that now she was feeling like going to France. Alsace is not the most French part of France but it has all its charm!

Dear Anglo, thank you so much! You know I found out that living in Switzerland is great; we can go out from here very easily and be in magic places in less than 1 hour! lol
