May 1st, International Workers' Day, commemorates the historic struggle of workers throughout the world. This day, May 1st, was chosen to celebrate Worker's Day because of a mass meeting that was held in the Chicago Haymarket in 1886 to discuss the eight-hour work-day ending in a protest against the police action in which workers were killed.
The United States doesn’t celebrate it, since it is a socialist event!
